Be a more capable human.

Welcome to The Movement Project.

We are a different kind of gym.

We focus on developing full body strength, control, movement quality, mobility, and conditioning, in small groups of no more than 5 people. We individualize your programming to fit your unique needs and drastically improve your durability. This is not a cookie-cutter program, this is individualized training in a semi-private setting designed to improve health, performance, and body composition.

Our training programs are built on a foundation of "big rock" strength training movement progressions that will lay the groundwork for a strong, stable, mobile body. Consider our training to be like adult gym class: a necessary foundation upon which all other physical capacity can be built: mobility, strength, power, endurance, wellness.

We offer in-person training at our private studio inside the TechArtista Coworking space in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO. We also offer online fitness and nutrition coaching, corporate wellness services, and seminars. If you are interested in learning more about any of these services, please fill out this form and let's chat:

Testimonials — See what our clients say about working with us:

Robbie is by far the most solid trainer I’ve worked with. He is able to gauge where I am and provides me with a perfect workout that I can feel good about every time. I know I am getting stronger and more fit with each session and look forward to working out - something I couldn’t say before we worked together. You can tell he is knowledgable about training and really lets evidence guide his programming.
— Dr. Ravi Uppaluri MD, PhD - Associate Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Washington University School of Medicine
I am a cardiologist and was prediabetic before I started training with Robbie. His nutrition guidance helped me lower my own A1C and blood sugar to healthy levels. He keeps me healthier than my own primary care doc!
— Dr. Harvey Serota, MD - President of St. Louis Heart & Vascular
I have been working out with Robbie for almost a year. I’ve had 3 previous trainers. I enjoy Robbie’s focus on technique and incorporation of a variety of movements utilizing all movement patterns. It is clear he uses evidence and is up to date in his knowledge of exercise physiology. I feel great afterwards and above all, feel that I am doing something positive for myself.
— Dr. Chitra Uppaluri MD - Internal Medicine Residency Director, St. Mary's Hospital
I have enjoyed working with Robbie for the past several months. I am almost 70 years old and have a lot of aches, pains, and mobility issues. Robbie is very good at listening to my problems and working to develop programs that will address these issues. After each exercise class I am tired but feel a lot better. Robbie has designed programs that I do on my own at home and while traveling. Robbie is good at keeping things interesting so you don’t get bored.

Working with Robbie is time well spent.
— Charles Southern - Vice Chairman at McGriff, Seibels & Williams
Robbie is energetic and enthusiastic! He comes up with new ways to keep the workout interesting while effective at the same time. Robbie pushes me to achieve my goals, which I appreciate. I no longer have lower back pain when I stick to my workout schedule. Robbie has a holistic approach that incorporates nutrition and wellness advice in addition to fitness.
— Dee Anne Sjogren - Partner, Thompson Coburn LLP
Robbie brings an integrated and long term approach to wellness - it’s more than just working out. I appreciate the focus on changing habits which change my life, rather than just losing weight for example. In addition, Robbie consistently stays abreast of current research and provides inputs which add value and help me to make sustainable life changes.
— Torbjörn Sjogren - Vice President of Global Maintenance & Upgrades, Boeing Defense, Space & Security
